This group covers the non-Asian restaurants, cafes, bars and food businesses that also appear in a mixed-cuisine food scene, including American diners, pizza, Mexican food, burgers, steakhouses and bakeries. Standard US restaurant norms apply: lunch and dinner service with a quieter stretch between, cards and tap-to-pay accepted almost everywhere, and a tip of 15-20% customary for table service. Fast food and quick-service counters expect payment up front and tipping is optional. Bars check ID for anyone who looks under 30, and the drinking age is 21 nationwide. Many restaurants in this group take reservations online through third-party platforms, while casual and fast-food spots are walk-in only. Sales tax is added at the register on top of the menu price and varies by city and state, so the final total is usually a few percent higher than the posted prices suggest.

If you are looking for a high quality, authentic, flavor-packed Korean meal, look no further. Sambong is, by far, the best Korean restaurant Michigan has to offer, even meeting (and sometimes exceeding) the quality and taste of restaurants Iโ€™ve been to in Korea itself. Do not skip over this place!

This is the real deal. You will need to travel 6,000 miles to the Land of Morning Calm to match the authentic taste found here. The bibimbap was outstanding, as good as anything in Seoul. The prices are quite reasonable and the portions are much larger than what you will find at most Korean restaurants in the area. The restaurant was full of customers on a recent Sunday evening, which is always a good sign. Counter service was prompt and friendly. Extra credit for really good kimchi!

I had a serious craving for hwe naengmyun (spicy cold noodle with raw fish) after having it in LA, and after some searching in Michigan we landed on Sambong. Iโ€™m so glad we did. This place absolutely delivers. The service alone is worth noting. Our server explained that the owner makes the myun (buckwheat noodles) fresh in house, using the ultra thin style that absorbs the broth if you donโ€™t eat quickly. That detail alone told us we were in the right place. The hwe naengmyun (spicy cold noodle with raw fish) was exactly what I was hoping for. The fermented, salted raw fish had that sweet, sour, spicy, deeply umami flavor I missed, with a chewy texture that pairs perfectly with the icy, refreshing broth and noodles. Iโ€™d give it a 4.5/5 only because I personally love it even more aggressively fermented, but thatโ€™s purely preference. At the end of the bowl, adding yuksu (hot beef broth) is the move. It softens the sharp vinegar edge and adds a deep, savory warmth that rounds out the last few bites beautifully. We also ordered mandu guk (dumpling soup), which is pure comfort. A milky, rich beef bone broth with hearty dumplings, perfect for a Michigan winter day. This is an easy 5/5

Self-order/serve Korean restaurant known for their cold noodles and grilled pork neck dishes, but everything else we have tried have been tasty as well. Donโ€™t miss the free beef brothโ€ฆthis alone is worth a visit!

Update: 7/5/2026 Our friends invited us back today for lunch so we accepted the invitation. Nothing has really changed much from our last visit. The dining room is still like a cafeteria with everything self-served including cleaning your table after you're done. Prices are still not cheap even with self-serve service. Although today is much cooler outside but the restaurant is still too warm for comfortable dining. We waited for a few minutes to be seated and finding seats for a group of 9 people was impossible so we have no choice but to split up. After being here 2 times, I still find this self-service style is not for us. I will kindly pass next time unless they make changes to make the customers work less or lower their prices. Surprisingly, this is a self served restaurant more like an easterly inside a mall. I didn't like the atmosphere, and it was super hot inside, making us very uncomfortable while we were eating. Due to its setup, there's really no service. You order, you eat, and you clean up. That's it. Is this a cafeteria in a school? Didn't like it. The food is decent, not the best. Some entrees are quite expensive, but once again, the atmosphere or sty
